Shahjalal Islami Bank Limited awarded scholarship to 515 poor meritorious students

Shahjalal Islami Bank Limited awarded scholarship to 515 poor meritorious students of the country even in this corona pandemic. On 25 November 2020 at Corporate Head Office of the Bank officially handed over the scholarship cheques to minimum 10 selected students from the capital city Dhaka and adjacent areas by maintaining proper hygiene and social distance. Scholarship Money of the remaining 505 students will be paid to their respective bank accounts as early as possible. 

The Chairman of Board the Directors of the Bank Sanaullah Shahid was present as a Chief Guest and the Chairman of Bank Foundation Engineer Towhidur Rahman were present as Special Guest. The Managing Director & CEO of the Bank M. Shahidul Islam presided over the ceremony.

Among others the Directors Abdul Halim, Mohiuddin Ahmed, Akkas Uddin Mollah, Khandaker Shakib Ahmed, Mohammed Younus, Mohammed Golam Quddus, Independent Directors Ekramul Haque, the Additional Managing Director of the Bank Abdul Aziz, the Deputy Managing Directors Shahjahan Shiraj, M. Akhter Hossain & Imtiaz U Ahmed and 10 selected scholarship students were present in the Ceremony.

The total 515 number of meritorious students have been awarded scholarship from different colleges, medical colleges and universities of the country. Among the 515 scholarship students, there are 150 male and 165 female students at SSC level, 120 male students and 80 female students at HSC level. 

SSC level students will be given as a one time of Tk. 27,500.00 (twenty seven thousand five hundred) and HSC level students studying at degree level for 3 years will be given Tk. 15,875.00 in 3 installments with a total of (15,875.00 X 3)=Tk. 47,625.00 (forty seven thousand six hundred twenty five) on the other hand 4-year honors level students will be given Tk. 15,875.00 in 4 installments with a total of (15,875.00 X 4) = Tk. 63,500.00 (sixty three thousand five hundred). 

As scholarship total Tk. 2,13,72,500.00 (two crore thirteen lakh seventy two thousand five hundred) will be given to 515 students.

In the scholarship ceremony the Chairman of the Bank Sanaullah Shahid, the Chairman of the Bank Foundation Engineer Towhidur Rahman and the Managing Director & CEO of the Bank M. Shahidul Islam expressed their inspirational words for scholarship students.

The Chairman of the Bank Sanaullah Shahid said, "Shahjalal Islami Bank Foundation stands beside the poor and meritorious students even in this global economic slowdown. Insha Allah, our helping hand will also be extended in the near future as well for the meritorious students of the country."
 
The Chairman of Foundation Committee of the Bank Engineer Towhidur Rahman expressed his hope that all these achievements of the insolvent families would play a significant role in the socio-economic development of the country along with improving the students by getting higher education.

The Managing Director & CEO of the Bank M. Shahidul Islam expressed that this scholarship given to the poor meritorious students due to their hard work in the previous year. This scholarship is a special recognition for them and we hope that they will do better in the near future for the country by taking proper education.
