Nahid Rahman promoted to Bangladesh Bank executive director

Bangladesh Bank has promoted Nahid Rahman to the post of executive director, according to a press release issued by the central bank recently.

Nahid Rahman began her banking career as a probationary officer at Southeast Bank before joining Bangladesh Bank as an assistant director in 1999.

During her career at the central bank, she served in several key departments, including the Banking Regulation and Policy Department, Forex Reserve and Treasury Management Department, Human Resource Management Department, Bangladesh Bank Training Academy and Credit Guarantee Department.

She also served on deputation as general manager (Finance and Accounts) at The Security Printing Corporation (Bangladesh) Limited.

Nahid earned an MCom in Finance from the Department of Finance and Banking at the University of Dhaka. During her deputation, she completed a Master of Bank Management (MBM) degree at the Bangladesh Institute of Bank Management (BIBM).

Under the Japanese government's JDS scholarship programme, she also obtained a master's degree in Development Economics from Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University in Japan.

She is an Associate of the Institute of Bankers, Bangladesh, and completed the Certified Development Finance Professional (CDFP) programme jointly organised by DFI and The Fletcher School at Tufts University.

Nahid has authored several articles and research papers published in banking-related journals.

She hails from Khulna. Her father, Atiqur Rahman, is a retired banker, while her mother, Selima Rahman, is a homemaker. Her husband, Alamgir, is a professor at the Bangladesh Institute of Bank Management.
