Civil Aviation and Tourism Adviser Sk Bashir Uddin has advised Biman Bangladesh Airlines to take strict measures for resolving mechanical faults in its aircraft, saying such issues are directly linked to passenger safety.
"Mechanical faults in aircraft are directly related to the safety of people's lives. Therefore, for the sake of Biman's reputation, these issues must be given the highest priority and addressed accordingly," he said at a meeting titled "Causes of Mechanical Faults in Biman Bangladesh Airlines Aircraft and Measures for Solutions" at the ministry's conference room today (17 September).
"Efforts should also be made to prevent such unwanted incidents in the future. The Biman administration and engineering departments must play a responsible role," the adviser added.
Bashir also warned that negligence in human-induced issues would not be tolerated and stressed stricter pre-flight inspections.
Among others, Civil Aviation and Tourism Secretary Nasreen Jahan, Additional Secretary Humayra Sultana, Biman Managing Director Md Shafiqul Rahman, and other senior officials of the ministry and the airline attended the meeting.
