CAAB issues special alert at all airports amid security concerns
All airports have been instructed to ensure round-the-clock surveillance through CCTV cameras, increase patrol activities within airport premises, and strengthen monitoring systems.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) has instructed all airports across the country to maintain heightened alert in light of the ongoing incidents of violence and sabotage.
A letter in this regard was sent from the CAAB headquarters to airport authorities on Tuesday (11 November), confirmed Dhaka Airport Executive Director Group Captain Ragib Samad.
"Considering the overall situation in the country, we have directed strict adherence to security protocols and related regulations. The letter does not mention any particular date or event behind this directive," he said.

Following the recent fire incident at the cargo house of Dhaka's Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, security measures at all airports had already been intensified. With this latest directive, additional precautionary measures have been ordered.
According to the CAAB letter, all airports have been instructed to ensure round-the-clock surveillance through CCTV cameras, increase patrol activities within airport premises, and strengthen monitoring systems. Necessary preparations have also been taken to enable immediate response to any potential untoward situation.
In addition, airports have been directed to deploy the maximum number of security personnel and reinforce fire surveillance activities to ensure swift response in case of emergencies.
