Biman resumes Dhaka-Karachi flights after 13 years
The inaugural flight arrived in Karachi at 11pm local time today. The return flight, BG-342, departed Karachi at 12:01am on 30 January and arrived in Dhaka at 4:20am the same day. A total of 150 passengers travelled on the inaugural flight.
Biman Bangladesh Airlines has resumed direct flights on the Dhaka-Karachi-Dhaka route after a 13-year hiatus. The inaugural flight, BG-341, departed Dhaka for Karachi today (29 January) at 8pm.
An inauguration ceremony was held at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport to mark the occasion, according to a press release. Sk Bashir Uddin, adviser to the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism and chairman of Biman's board of directors, attended the event.
Also present were Imran Haider, Pakistan's high commissioner to Bangladesh, and Air Vice Marshal Md Mostafa Mahmud Siddiq, chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh. The ceremony was presided over by Dr Md Shafiqur Rahman, managing director and CEO of Biman Bangladesh Airlines. Senior officials from the ministry, Biman, civil aviation authorities and other organisations also attended.

Under the winter schedule, flights on this route will operate every Thursday and Saturday.
With the launch of this route, direct connectivity between Bangladesh and Pakistan has been established. The route is expected to play a significant role in promoting trade and commerce, expanding educational exchanges, and fostering cultural ties between the two countries.
Biman last operated flights to Karachi in 2012. The resumption of the route is expected to strengthen trade, educational exchange, cultural ties, and diplomatic relations between Bangladesh and Pakistan.
