‘Anti-Discrimination Reform Council’ announces president candidate for FBCCI elections
The full panel, including the names of all remaining candidates, will be revealed soon

The Anti-Discrimination Reform Council has unveiled its panel name and presidential candidate for the upcoming elections of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), the country's apex trade body.
Zakir Hossain Nayan, president of the Bangladesh CNG Machinery Importers Association, was announced as the panel's presidential candidate at a press conference held at Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) today (19 June).
The announcement was made by Abul Kashem, former FBCCI vice president and chief adviser to the council.
It was also announced that the full panel, including the names of all remaining candidates, will be revealed soon.
Speaking at the event, Zakir Hossain Nayan said, "In the past, under an authoritarian system, the FBCCI president was selected based on political decisions. General voters had little significance. Those with opposing views were often harassed with legal cases and barred from entering the federation.
"With the reforms now in place, such practices will no longer be tolerated. All ordinary businesspeople must be allowed to vote and have their voices heard."
He also stressed that it is time to ensure fair representation and proper respect for the business community.
The FBCCI elections, scheduled for 7 September, will see voting for the positions of president, senior vice president, vice president, and directors. This year, the election will be held under newly reformed rules.
