Government to provide transport, housing for frontline health workers
In order to help frontline healthcare workers maintain social distancing, the government has taken initiatives to conduct requisition of buildings, hotels and residential centers for them
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has decided to provide transportation and housing facilities for frontline healthcare workers who are working tirelessly to treat coronavirus patients.
This came in a notice issued by the ministry on Monday.
The frontline healthcare workers treating coronavirus patients are always exposed to the risk of infection.

After work, they return to their families at home as they have no other place to stay. This poses a threat to the health and safety of their loved ones.
So, in order to help them maintain social distancing, the government has taken initiatives to conduct requisition of buildings, hotels and residential centers for them, said the notice.
The deputy commissioners of each district will co-ordinate with the coronavirus prevention committee of that district, and determine the adequate number of buildings and hotels needed to house the health workers as well as the number of vehicles needed for their transport.
The government will pay all the bills of the requisitioned buildings, and will also pay for food at the rate set by the health department and the health ministry.
The government will provide necessary manpower and assistance for the authorities of the requisitioned hotels and buildings as well.
