Khulna registers 51 single-day deaths breaking previous records
Earlier on 1 July, the highest single-day death toll recorded in the division was also 46
At least 51 people died and 1,304 more got infected by Covid-19 in the past 24 hours until Sunday morning in Khulna Division, breaking previous records of daily fatalities.
With the latest figures, the number of infections crossed the 60,000 mark, said Khulna Divisional Health Director Dr Rasheda Sultana.
Earlier, the last highest number of single day deaths was recorded on Thursday with 39 fatalities.

In the past 24 hours, 12 in Kushtia, 10 died in Khulna, six each in Bagerhat and Jhenaidah, five each in Chudanga and Jashore, three in Meherpur, two in Narail, one each in Magura and Satkhira districts.
The first Covid-19 case was detected on March 19 and so far a total of 1,214 people have lost their lives due to the deadly virus and 40,218 recovered.
Medical officer of Khulna Civil Surgeon's Office Dr Sheikh Sadia Monowara Usha said 150 people were found to be Covid-19 infected after testing 436 samples in the past 24 hours which has positively rate of 34%.
According to the data of divisional health directorate, a total of 16,387 people were infected with coronavirus, while 300 died and 11,352 recovered in Khulna district.
