bKash handed over 50 ventilators and 650,000 emergency health toolkits donated by China's Alibaba Foundation and Jack Ma Foundation to Prime Minister's Relief Fund.

The health toolkits includes Covid-19 detection kits, electronic laser thermometers, masks, protective clothing, face shields and gloves among other things, said a press release.

Ant Financial, an affiliate of Chinese giant Alibaba group is one of the investors of bKash.

bKash CEO Kamal Quadir handed over the emergency medical supplies to Dr Ahmad Kaikaus, principal secretary to the prime minister at Prime Minister's Office on Thursday.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was present through video conferencing from Ganobhaban.

The prime minister expressed her gratification saying that these medical supplies will be of great help during this emergency.

bKash Chief External and Corporate Affairs Officer Major General Sheikh Md Monirul Islam (Retd) was also present at the program.

Chinese giant Alibaba's founder Jack Ma took the initiative to send essential health equipment as a humanitarian aid with the assistance of bKash.

Besides 50 ventilators, the aid includeded 20,000 Covid-19 detection kits, 60,000 KN95 masks, 300,000 face masks, 200,000 inspection gloves, 15,000 face shields, 15,000 protective clothing, 80 electronic laser thermometers, 20,000 nucleic acid isolations and 20,000 sample preservation solutions.

 "We are delighted that Alibaba Foundation and Jack Ma Foundation have sent these medical supplies for the people of Bangladesh. Jack Ma and his organizations are not only participating in Bangladesh's economic activities through investments, but are also concerned about the well-being of the people. Hence, they have sent this medical aid during this emergency," said the bKash CEO.

In the context of the urgent need of ventilators for the treatment of patients suffering from severe respiratory infections by Covid-19 in the country, concerned people have expressed hope that the ventilators provided by Alibaba will accelerate Corona treatment and make it more effective.
