Seven doctors and the assistant commissioner(AC) Land, Tongi Revenue Circle and Executive Magistrate AKM Golam Morshed Khan Pavel have been infected with the novel coronavirus in Gazipur. 

With 107 infected within the last 24 hours, the total number of infected of coronavirus patients has risen to 279, among whom there are at least 50 health workers, police and journalists.

Gazipur Civil Surgeon Md khairuzzaman said 137 samples had been collected from Gazipur on Sunday.  He added that Gazipur Sadar and Kaliganj upazila have been the worst affected in the last 24 hours.

He also said that samples from AC (Land) Pavel, his wife and children were sent to IEDCR, and the results which came back on Monday confirmed that AC (Land) Pavel had tested positive, however his wife and children's results aren't known yet.

Additional deputy commissioner (Revenue) of Gazipur, Mashiur Rahman said AC Land Pavel had recently conducted a mobile court with officers of Gacha police station of the Gazipur Metropolitan Police.

He added that it was later reported that five officers of Gacha Police Station had also been tested positive for coronavirus.
