SUB webinar discusses CBA’s role in industrial relations development

Department of Business Administration of Southern University Bangladesh (SUB) recently arranged a webinar on 'the role of Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) and trade unions for good industrial relations in Bangladesh.'

Prof Dr Israt Jahan, head of the Department of Business Administration of SUB and director of IQAC, presided over the webinar, reads a press release on Thursday.

Professor Dr Amir Mohammad Nasrullah, Department of Public Administration, University of Chittagong, Md Zakaria Khaled, assistant secretary (Compliance) at BKMEA and member of the Jury Board of Khulna Labor Court, Abdullah-Al-Mamun, senior HR manager at ACI, and Mohammad Abdul Basit, assistant inspector general and councilor of Bepza joined the discussion as panellists.

Prof Nasrullah discussed the reasons behind the constructive and negative role of CBA and trade unions in Bangladesh.

Meanwhile, Beza Councilor Basit discussed the similarities and differences of bargaining in the procurement of industrial machinery in the light of the Bangladesh Labor Act, 2006, Bangladesh EPZ Labor Act, 2019, and Workers Welfare Association and Industry Relations Act, 2010.

Speakers at the virtual programme also discussed the practical situation of RMG sectors in Bangladesh regarding the impact of CBA and trade unions on industrial development and explained the essential aspects of knowledge to make the overall industrial sector more innate and productive.
