Karnaphuli Fertiliser, Nestle, HeidelbergCement contribute Tk7.4 crore to labour welfare fund
Senior officials of these companies handed over cheques to State Minister for Labour and Employment Monnujan Sufian Wednesday afternoon

Karnaphuli Fertiliser Company Limited (Kafco), Nestle Bangladesh Limited, and HeidelbergCement Bangladesh Limited have donated Tk7.4 crore to the Labour Welfare Foundation Fund.
Industries Secretary and Kafco Chairman KM Ali Azam, Nestle Bangladesh's Corporate Affairs Director Naquib Uddin Khan, and HeidelbergCement's Legal Executive Mostofa Galib handed over the cheques on behalf of their companies to State Minister for Labour and Employment Monnujan Sufian Wednesday afternoon.
Kafco donated Tk5.57 crore, Nestle Bangladesh donated Tk1.74 crore, and HeidelbergCement donated Tk8.96 lakh to the fund, said a press release from the Ministry of Labour and Employment.
Under the Bangladesh labour law, companies contribute one-tenth of 5% of their profits to the Bangladesh Labour Welfare Foundation Fund at the end of the year.
So far 173 domestic, foreign, and multinational companies have contributed Tk485 crore to the fund.
Labour and Employment Secretary KM Abdus Salam, and Director General of Labour Welfare Foundation Dr Molla Jalal Uddin were present at the ceremony among others.
