ISDE launches training programme for Rohingya and local women in Ukhia

The private development agency ISDE Bangladesh with the support of donor agency WJ Dhar, United Kingdom, has started the 2nd batch of safety training programme for the displaced Rohingya and local women at Thaingkhali 13th Camp in Palangkhali Union of Ukhia Upazila in Cox's Bazar District.

Palangkhali Union Parishad Chairman Gafur Uddin Chowdhury inaugurated the centre through an unofficial function. ISDE Bangladesh Programme Coordinator Md Jahangir Alam, UP Member Joynal Abedin, Project Officer Office Nur Hasnat, Local Community Leader Sahab Uddin, Trainer Khaleda Begum and others were present on the occasion.

The skills development center will provide training to Rohingya and local women on various skills including prevention of child marriage, special counseling on mental health issues, awareness on gender equality, prevention of gender based violence, tailoring and handicraft training. Around 100-120 girls and women are trained a day in batches of 20-25. At the end of the training, sewing machines will be distributed among the successful trainees. Already 90 trainees have successfully completed the training through this centre.
