Shah Cement sets Guinness World Record

Shah Cement Industries Ltd has recently set a Guinness World Record for establishing the largest vertical roller mill in the world.

The vertical roller mill, equipped with Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology was manufactured by a Danish company named FLSmidth Global Cement Technology, said a press release.

The largest vertical roller cement mill is the FLSmidth OK81-6™ vertical mill, with a grinding table diameter of 8.08 meters (26 feet 6 inches) and roller diameter of 2.64 meters (8 feet 7 inches), achieved by Shah Cement Industries Ltd (Bangladesh), said Guinness World Record in their record statement.

Shah Cement set up the mill at its Muktarpur plant in Munshiganj. The mill consists of six rollers and has a capacity of producing 15,000 tonnes of cement per day and 60 Lac per year.

The company, under the umbrella of business conglomerate Abul Khair Group, has a cement production capacity of 8 million tonnes per year.

"Shah Cement is a brand built on trust. The unwavering trust of our customers inspired us to dream big for the brand and the country," said Naushad Chowdhury, Brand and Marketing Director of Abul Khair Group.

He added: "While exploring capacity expansion options, we wanted to build a facility that will not only ensure uninterrupted supply of cement across the country but will also ensure consistent high quality in every bag.

Director of operations at Shah Cement Industries Ltd, Hafiz Sikandar said that the superior technology largely eliminates the chance of a human error.

"We are proud to introduce the world's most advanced cement technology to Bangladesh market," Sikandar added.

"This mill is the first of its kind self-reliant machine in the cement industry of Bangladesh," said Soren Holm, Vice President of FLSmidth.

The operating system of the machine is fully automated, while built-in tools have been programmed with solutions to common problems that the machine may come across. The machine is capable of solving these problems with no manual interventions, Holms further said.
