Berger brings antimicrobial coating to control spread of infection

Berger Paints Bangladesh Limited recently launched Magico Antimicrobial PU Coating, first of its kind to be introduced in Bangladesh, manufactured with silver ion technology which enables it to fight against viruses, bacteria, and other contaminations.

Coming in both glossy and matt finishes, these products can be applied as a topcoat over any conventional coating (Epoxy, Stoving, PU and other suitable paint).

The coating is tested according to the required standards of ASTM E2180 and can kill up to 99% of germs providing long lasting protection, according to a press release.

Formulated by SBL Specialty Coating Pvt Ltd of Berger Group, this product also has a unique coating designed especially for industrial and decorative coating segment which can be applied on various substrates such as aluminium, MS, stainless steel, TIN, GI, plastics, wood, MDF, FRP, glass, copper, and plated substrates.

Regarding the launch of the product, Mohsin Habib Chowdhury, senior general manager (Sales & Marketing, BPBL) said, "Different industrial facilities require a complete uncontaminated environment. As we cope with the new normal created by the Covid-19 pandemic, we have been constantly in search of preventive measures to thwart the threat posed by this deadly virus.

Being one of the core companies in Bangladesh's paint industry, we felt obligated to develop a product that will ensure a complete uncontaminated environment for different industries and help protect our people and economy."

The antimicrobial paint is being offered by the industrial paints division of the company and is certified by internationally renowned certifying bodies for its efficacy against viruses and germs on non-porous surfaces. The product is also ISO 21702:2019 certified.
