BCCCI-ERF announce launch of annual business award

The Bangladesh China Chamber of Commerce (BCCI) and Industry and the Economic Reporters Forum (ERF) announced the launch on Tuesday of the annual BCCCI-ERF Award to highlight the thriving business and economic relationship between Bangladesh and China.

Ten awards will be given to text, television and website reports and features on topics ranging from trade, investment, innovation, education, hospitality, culture, tourism, etc., the ERF said in a statement.

Each award winner will receive Tk50,000 as prize money and a citation from the BCCCI, it said, adding that reports published between January 1, 2020 and January 30, 2021 will be considered for the first edition of the award.

The announcement was made following a meeting between BCCCI Joint Secretary Al Mamum Mridha and the ERF Executive Committee, headed by its president Sharmin Rinvy at the ERF headquarters at Paltan in Central Dhaka.

"I hope this is the auspicious start of a long and fruitful partnership between BCCCI and ERF," Al Mamum Mridha said.

"The BCCCI is doing its best to boost trade and economic ties between China and Bangladesh. The award is part of this initiative," he said.

"I am delighted that we could launch the award at such short notice," ERF president Sharmin Rinvy said. She thanked the BCCCI for the initiative.

ERF General Secretary, S. M Rashidul Islam; ERF Vice President Shafiqul Alam; ERF Finance Secretary Rejaul Haque Kawshik; executive members Serajul Islam Quadir, who is also the former bureau chief of Reuters, and Rahim Sheikh were present on the occasion.

BCCCI office secretary Abu Taher was also in attendance.
