Youth mugged by machete-wielding assailants in broad daylight in Moghbazar, CCTV footage goes viral
Police say no formal complaint has been lodged yet, but they have contacted the victim after reviewing the video

A youth was attacked with a machete and robbed in broad daylight in Dhaka's Moghbazar area on 18 May.
The footage of the incident, captured on CCTV, has since gone viral on social media.
Police say no formal complaint has been lodged yet, but they have contacted the victim after reviewing the video.
"We have seen the video. The victim has been identified as Abdullah, a housekeeping staff member at a hotel in Motijheel. The assailants took his mobile phone, worth Tk10,000, along with some cash," Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Hatirjheel Police Station Mohammad Raju told The Business Standards.
"We are analysing the CCTV footage and Abdullah's statement. A drive is underway to arrest the culprits," he added.
The CCTV footage, timestamped 5:22pm on 18 May, shows the youth walking down an empty alley carrying a shoulder bag. Suddenly, a white motorcycle with three individuals approaches from the opposite direction.
Two of them, wearing masks and helmets, dismount and attempt to snatch the bag and other belongings from him.
When he resisted, the muggers drew a machete and began attacking him.
Dogs can be heard barking in the background as the assailants continue the assault. After snatching the bag, they try to flee on the motorcycle.
However, the victim grabs the motorcycle's front wheel and pleads for his belongings' return. Enraged, the assailants get off the bike again and strike him repeatedly with the machete before finally fleeing the scene.
