World Cup fever on: Satkhira football fan wants govt-issued 'Brazil card'
Afridi said he changed his name out of love for Brazilian football
Fifa World Cup passion often runs higher than reason, and in Satkhira it has taken a playful turn.
A self-declared "Brazil warrior" has stepped into the spotlight with a demand for an official "Brazil Card" offering government-style benefits.
The man, identified as Afrid Zada Mohammad Brazil Khan Afridi, also known as Moon Rahman, has been seen riding a motorcycle decorated with Brazilian flags and fan gear around Satkhira district town.
A Foodpanda delivery rider by profession, he lives in the Rajarbagan area of Satkhira.
Afridi said he changed his name out of love for Brazilian football.
He argued that Brazil supporters like him contribute to the economy by enthusiastically buying flags, jerseys, and other World Cup merchandise and therefore deserve state recognition in the form of a special "Brazil Card".
"People with a negative mentality often troll Brazil fans during the World Cup season, humorously referring to common football banter," he said.
Afridi urged fans of Brazil and Argentina to enjoy the game peacefully, saying rivalry should stay on the field, not turn into real-life conflict.
Riding his uniquely decorated bike through the city, he drew both laughter and attention from fellow football fans, turning everyday delivery routes into a mini World Cup parade.
