Workers block Tejgaon road demanding unpaid wages and allowances
He added that traffic movement has since returned to normal, although the workers remain stationed near the factory premises
Workers of Nassa Apparels Limited briefly blocked a road in Dhaka's Tejgaon area today (4 June), demanding payment of one month's overdue salary and allowances.
The workers began the blockade on Tejgaon Link Road around 11am, disrupting traffic in the area for a short period. They later withdrew from the road and moved to the roadside in front of the factory.
As of filing this report around 2pm, the workers were still gathered outside the garment factory.
Confirming the matter, Tejgaon Industrial Area Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Muhammad Mahbubur Rahman said the workers had staged the blockade to press their demands for unpaid wages and allowances.
He added that traffic movement has since returned to normal, although the workers remain stationed near the factory premises.
