Woman injured in bear attack in Bandarban

A woman was injured in a bear attack in the Chimbuk Hills area along the Ruma-Thanchi road in Bandarban today (27 April).
The injured, Easter Bom (32), is a resident of Lairunpi Para in Ward 4 of Tonkabati union, said Union Parishad Chairman Mangyang Mro.
According to locals, Easter and her husband Pran Juwal Bom went to Empu Para in the morning to visit her ailing younger sister.
While returning, they were attacked by a bear near the 11-Mile Baganpara area around 11:30am.
Easter sustained injuries to her waist, abdomen, and other parts of her body.
Hearing screams, nearby people rushed to the spot and created a commotion, causing the bear to flee into the forest.
Locals then took Easter to a clinic in Bandarban town.
Mangyang Mro said Easter has since returned home after receiving treatment at the clinic.
"Her injuries are not critical, and she is out of danger," he added.
Back in 2021, two individuals were critically injured after a bear attacked them in Bandarban.
