Ten others have been injured.
A woman and her daughter were killed and 10 others injured when a tourist bus bound for Tanguar Haor overturned and fell into a roadside ditch in Sunamganj early today (24 October).
The deceased were Monzura Akter, 37, and her daughter Ayesha Siddika, 10, residents of Kadamtali in Dhaka.
The accident occurred at around 6am in the Pagla Bazar area of Shantiganj Upazila on the Sunamganj-Sylhet regional highway.
Sumon Kumar Chowdhury, officer-in-charge of Joykolos Highway Police Station, said the injured had been rescued with the help of locals and admitted to a nearby hospital.
The bodies of the deceased were sent to the Sunamganj Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
OC Sumon said the victims were travelling from Dhaka to Sunamganj to visit Tanguar Haor when the Senjuti Travels bus veered off the road and fell into a ditch near Pagla Bazar, killing the woman and her daughter.
"We reached the scene upon receiving the news and found the bus in the ditch," he said, adding that fire service personnel had recovered the bodies of the victims trapped under the vehicle.
