Finance Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali is set to place the proposed national budget for fiscal year (2024-2025) at the Jatiya Sangsad this afternoon.
 
This will be the country's 53rd budget and the 25th of the Awami League government in six terms.
 
Tajuddin Ahmed presented the country's first budget as finance minister of the post-independence Bangabandhu government in 1972.
 
This budget for FY25 will be the maiden budget of incumbent Finance Minister AH Mahmood Ali, who previously served the Cabinet as the Minister for Disaster Management and Relief and the Minister for Foreign Affairs.

AMA Muhith and Saifur Rahman presented the highest 12 budgets each at different terms of their respective governments.

Muhith, however, is the first finance minister who placed the budget for 10 consecutive fiscals since 2009 until he went on retirement after the end of last parliament.
