Wheat unloaded at Mongla Port for the first time

According to Abdus Sobhan Sardar, assistant controller of the Mongla Food Controller Office, the vessel carrying 50,200 metric tonnes (MT) of wheat had initially docked at Chittagong Port

For the first time, a consignment of wheat imported from Argentina has been unloaded at Mongla, the country's second-largest seaport.

According to Abdus Sobhan Sardar, assistant controller of the Mongla Food Controller Office, the vessel carrying 50,200 metric tonnes (MT) of wheat had initially docked at Chittagong Port.

There, 30,120 MT of wheat were unloaded, while the remaining quantity was scheduled for unloading at Mongla.

The vessel arrived at Mongla Port on Friday (14 February), and unloading activities commenced on Saturday afternoon (15 February) following a physical test of the wheat, the official said.

Of the total unloaded wheat, 13,080 MT will be stored at the port, while the rest will be distributed to Barishal, Khulna, Rajbari and other regions across the country, he added.
