What are the 5 projects ongoing for development of Primary Education?
Responding to a starred question from SM Jahangir Hossain (Dhaka-18) in the Jatiya Sangsad today (15 March), the minister said a total of five projects are currently being implemented under the Directorate of Primary Education to strengthen the primary education sector.
Minister for Education and Primary and Mass Education, ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon, today (15 March) informed the House that several ongoing projects are underway across the country to improve primary and mass education.
Responding to a starred question from SM Jahangir Hossain (Dhaka-18) in the Jatiya Sangsad today, the minister said a total of five projects are currently being implemented under the Directorate of Primary Education to strengthen the primary education sector.
He said the projects include the Fourth Primary Education Development Programme (PEDP4), being implemented from July 2018 to June 2026, and the Demand-Based Government Primary School Development Project (1st Phase), running from July 2016 to 2026.

The minister added that another project titled Establishment and Infrastructure Development of Government Primary Schools with Aesthetic Enhancement in Dhaka Metropolitan and Purbachal is being implemented from January 2020 to June 2027.
Besides, the government is implementing the "Pre-primary and Primary Education Improvement Project in Cox's Bazar and Bandarban districts and Bhasanchar of Noakhali" from July 2024 to June 2027.
Milon said a school feeding programme in government primary schools in 150 upazilas is also underway from January 2025 to December 2027.
He further said that through the Bureau of Non-Formal Education, a course titled "Effective Literacy and Practical Skills Training (Pre-vocational Level)" is being implemented in 58 districts across the country.
In addition, the government has taken an initiative to implement a project titled "Alternative Learning Opportunity for Out-of-School Children (ALO)" in one upazila of each of the country's 64 districts to provide alternative education opportunities for out-of-school children.
The minister said the project was approved at a meeting of the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) on January 25, 2026 and will be implemented from January 2026 to December 2028.
