Viral video shows man firing shots outside Ctg factory; police launch probe
CCTV footage circulating online shows a young man walking from the front of a garment factory towards the road, pulling a firearm from his pocket and firing towards the factory premises.
Police have launched an investigation after a video showing a man openly firing a gun outside a garment factory in Chattogram's Kalurghat Bscic industrial area, which went viral on social media, triggering concern among local residents.
Chandgaon Police Station Officer-in-Charge Jasim Uddin told reporters today (21 June) that police began investigating after receiving information about the shooting.
"No written complaint has been filed with the police station so far. However, we are collecting CCTV footage and other evidence to identify those involved," he said.
According to the police, the incident took place yesterday morning.
CCTV footage circulating online shows a young man walking from the front of a garment factory towards the road, pulling a firearm from his pocket and firing towards the factory premises.
The footage further shows the individual moving forward and raising the weapon again before firing another shot.
Police and local sources said a group of five people was present in front of the factory at the time of the incident, with at least one person carrying a firearm.
Residents alleged that longstanding disputes among rival groups over dominance, extortion and control of factories in the Bscic industrial area may be linked to the shooting.
