Victory in this electoral battle is a must; there is no alternative: EC secretary
“I urge you to be particularly cautious about the misuse of artificial intelligence. We at the Election Commission face this challenge regularly,” he said

Senior Secretary of the Election Commission (EC) Akhtar Ahmed has called on upazila executive officers (UNOs) to remain committed to ensuring a free, fair, and participatory election, describing the upcoming national polls as an "electoral battle that must be won."
"Welcome to this fair, beautiful, participatory, and festive electoral battle," he said.
"We must win this battle; there is no alternative. It's a one-way track, and this one-way track is this war. It is our moral responsibility. We are committed to fulfilling this pledge," said the EC secretary.

He made the remarks while addressing a training session for UNOs at the Election Training Institute in Agargaon, Dhaka, this morning (22 October). The event was organised by the EC as part of its preparation for the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election.
Akhtar Ahmed said, "I often say during training that civil officers should be in business, not a business for making profit, but a business for the welfare of the larger community. This is our commitment. If we deviate from this commitment, we perish. There is no scope for deviation."
Emphasising the need for accurate information flow and tackling misinformation, the EC secretary said, "Free, fair, and impartial information flow will wipe out misinformation. I urge you to be particularly cautious about the misuse of artificial intelligence. We at the Election Commission face this challenge regularly."
Speaking about misinformation, he further said, "We have repeatedly discussed both proactive and reactive measures at various training levels. I urge you to stay alert. Always provide correct information; the flow of accurate information will remove misinformation. Through this, we will be able to contain the misuse of artificial intelligence in spreading falsehoods."
