US donates 6 lakh TB kits, 11,000 paediatric treatments to Bangladesh
The donation eases shortages and reflects US commitment to global health security
The United States government has donated 600,000 US-manufactured GeneXpert tuberculosis testing kits and 11,000 courses of paediatric TB drugs to the Bangladesh government.
According to a press release issued today (30 April), US Ambassador Brent T Christensen handed over the donation at a ceremony held at a leading tuberculosis hospital, attended by Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Mohammad Shakhawat Hossain Bokul and Director General of Health Services Prof Dr Pravath Chandra Biswas.
The donation aims to address critical supply shortages and reflects the United States' commitment to global health security under its new five-year framework to expand bilateral health partnerships.
