The Bangladesh Jatiotabadi Jubo Dal, the youth wing of BNP, has expelled two of its leaders for their alleged involvement in the brutal killing of businessman Mohammad Sohag in front of Mitford Hospital in Dhaka on 9 July.

The expulsion was announced in a statement, signed by Jubo Dal Assistant Office Secretary Minhazul Islam Bhuiyan, today (11 July).

According to the statement, Rajjab Ali Pintu, former assistant secretary for climate affairs of the Jubo Dal Central Executive Committee, and Sabah Karim Lucky, joint convener of the Dhaka South Jubo Dal, have been permanently expelled from the organisation.

Both were named in the case filed by the victim's family.

The organisation further stated that it will not take responsibility for any criminal activities committed by the expelled individuals.

The statement also called upon law enforcement agencies to take necessary legal action without showing any leniency.

Speaking to reporters, BNP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed said, "Despite taking action over the Mitford incident, blaming the BNP for isolated incidents is a form of dirty politics. This is nothing but malicious political maneuvering. The BNP and its affiliated bodies have never sheltered any criminal, nor will they ever do so. In this regard, the BNP maintains a policy of 'zero tolerance.'"
