Two bodies recovered from footpaths near Dhaka Medical College and Shaheed Minar
Their identities could not be determined immediately.
Two unidentified bodies, one of a woman and the other of an elderly man, were recovered from footpaths in the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) area and near the Central Shaheed Minar yesterday (7 December).
Their identities could not be determined immediately.
Shahbagh Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Md Asaduzzaman said both bodies have been kept at the DMCH morgue, and efforts are underway to identify them.
According to police, the first body was found around 5:15pm on a footpath behind the DMCH emergency department. Hospital ward boys noticed the woman lying unconscious and brought her inside, where on-duty doctors declared her dead.
About an hour later, passersby spotted an elderly man lying unconscious on the footpath near the Central Shaheed Minar. They alerted police, and with the help of bystanders, Shahbagh police transported him to the DMCH emergency unit. He too was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Asaduzzaman said investigators are also looking into whether the deaths occurred naturally or if there were other circumstances involved.
