Karnaphuli Tunnel traffic to be diverted for maintenance
The diversion will be enforced nightly from 11pm to 5am and will continue until 30 October
Traffic movement through the Karnaphuli Tunnel will be partially diverted for six nights starting tomorrow (25 October) to allow for routine maintenance work, the Bangladesh Bridge Authority (BBA) announced in a press release today (24 October).
The diversion will be enforced nightly from 11pm to 5am and will continue until 30 October.
During this period, controlled traffic will be maintained by diverting vehicles through either the Patenga-to-Anwara or the Anwara-to-Patenga tunnel tube, depending on the maintenance requirements.
The BBA stated that commuters may experience waiting times due to the traffic diversion.
"Respected passengers may need to wait for a minimum of five (5) to a maximum of ten (10) minutes in both directions of the tunnel, depending on the existing traffic volume," the press release said.
The authorities requested the sincere cooperation of all commuters to ensure the safe and effective completion of the tunnel's routine maintenance.
