BRTA fines 7 buses Tk17,000 for overcharging, missing fare charts in Dhaka
Fare charts were found at all Gabtoli and Mohakhali counters, with no overcharging complaints

The Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) today (26 March) fined seven buses a total of Tk17,000 for charging extra fares from passengers ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr and not having fare charts in Dhaka.
A mobile court, led by BRTA executive magistrate, imposed the fines during a drive at bus terminals in Sayedabad, Gabtoli, Fulbaria, and Mohakhali to prevent public suffering, the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges said in a press release.
During the inspection, fare charts were found at all counters in Gabtoli and Mohakhali bus terminals, and no complaints of overcharging were reported. However, at Sayedabad Bus Terminal, Nilachal Paribahan, operating on the Ramgati-Lakshmipur route, was fined Tk3,000 for charging an additional Tk100 per passenger.
Additionally, in Kamarpara, New Safa Paribahan, which operates on the Gaibandha route, was fined Tk4,000 for overcharging two passengers by Tk100 each. The same amount of fine was imposed on Mirpur D-Link and Nilachol Paribahan for failing to display a fare chart.
At Fulbaria Bus Terminal, Dola Paribahan, Golden Line, and Emad Paribahan were fined a total of Tk6,000 for not having fare charts, the release added.
