Trade thru Sonamasjid, Burimari land ports to remain suspended for over a week for Eid
After the holiday, trade operations will resume at the port from the morning of 28 March.
Trade activities through Sonamasjid Land Port will remain suspended for 10 days from 18 March to 27 March on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.
Meanwhile, export and import activities through Burimari Land Port in Lalmonirhat District will remain suspended for 11 days from 17 March on the occasion of Shab-e-Qadr, Eid-ul-Fitr and Independence Day of Bangladesh.
Ruhul Amin, secretary of the C&F Agents Association of Sonamasjid land port, said travel for passengers holding valid passports will continue as usual. After the holiday, trade operations will resume at the port from the morning of 28 March.
Ruhul Amin said loading and unloading of goods already at the port will continue during the holiday period. He said India's Mahadipur land port customs and related associations have been officially notified about the temporary suspension.
Burimari Customs C&F Agents Association President Faruk Hossain yesterday said movement of passengers with valid passports and visas through the immigration checkpost will continue as usual during the period.
The trade suspension will continue until 27 March, and port operations will resume on 28 March.
"Although commercial operations will remain suspended, there will be no disruption in the movement of people between the two countries," he said.
