Around 100 tourists rescued from stranded ship in Teknaf
The MV Green Line departed St Martin's Island for Cox's Bazar around 4:00pm but became stuck near Kachpia off the Baharchhara Union coast around 7:30pm due to engine issues
A tourist ship carrying around 100 passengers got stranded off the Baharchhara coast in Teknaf, Cox's Bazar, on its return journey from St Martin's Island due to an engine failure today (26 December).
However, the passengers on the ship were rescued and brought to land by members of Coast Guard and the Bangladesh Navy at around 10:00pm, officials said.
The ship remains stranded as of 10:20pm.

Teknaf Assistant Commissioner (land) Arif Ullah Nezami said efforts are underway to rescue the stranded tourists with assistance from the Coast Guard, Navy, and local fishermen.
He said the MV Green Line departed St Martin's Island for Cox's Bazar around 4:00pm but became stuck near Kachpia off the Baharchhara Union coast around 7:30pm due to engine issues.
Nezami assured that the ship is near the coast, and all tourists on board are safe. "They are expected to be brought ashore shortly."
Hossain Islam Bahadur, general secretary of the Sea Cruise Operators Owners Association of Bangladesh, echoed the assurance, stating that the ship is very close to land and there is no reason for panic.
