Tourist drowns at Ruposhi Waterfall in Mirsarai
Mirsarai police said legal procedures are being followed, and the body will be handed over to the family afterward
A young tourist drowned while visiting the Ruposhi Waterfall in Mirsarai of Chattogram today (15 June).
His body was recovered in the afternoon by Mirsarai Fire Service, station officer Imam Hossain Patwary confirmed to The Business Standard.
The deceased has been identified as Md Asif, 24, son of Md Golap, a resident of Kamal Gate in Purba Madarbari under Chattogram city's Sadarghat Police Station.
Asif was a fourth-year student of Finance and Banking at Islamia Degree College and had gone on a trip to the waterfall with friends, according to fire service officials.
"Several friends went to visit the Ruposhi Waterfall together," said Imam Hossain Patwary.
"After entering the water, Asif went missing. When his friends couldn't locate him, they informed the fire service, and we immediately launched a rescue operation," he added.
Mirsarai police said legal procedures are being followed, and the body will be handed over to the family afterward.
Just a day earlier, an SSC examinee named Tahsin Anwar from Chattogram Cantonment Public School and College drowned while bathing at the Sahasradhara Waterfall in Sitakunda.
