Three arrested over crude bomb blast near PMO
One crude bomb was blasted between 1:10 am and 1:15 am.
Police arrested three people today (10 October) in connection with a crude bomb explosion near the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) in the capital's Tejgaon early the same day.
The arrested were identified as Nur Nabi, Sanaullah and Akash Ahmed, who were picked up from the Tejgaon area, Tejgaon Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Moniruzzaman told The Business Standard.
"We arrested three people from the Tejgaon area. A case has been filed over the incident," he said.
The explosion occurred between 1:10am and 1:15am yesterday at the entrance to Agargaon Link Road, opposite the PMO boundary wall, when two men on a motorcycle hurled two crude bombs. One exploded, while the other remained unexploded.
The Dhaka Metropolitan Police's (DMP) Bomb Disposal Unit later reached the scene and defused the unexploded bomb.
Deputy Commissioner Ibne Mizan of the DMP's Tejgaon division visited the scene around 2:30am and later told reporters that preliminary findings showed two men had arrived on a motorcycle, hurled the bombs and fled.
According to police, the two approached from the Jahangir Gate direction and remained at the spot for two to three minutes, observing the surroundings before throwing the bombs.
They then fled through Agargaon towards Kafrul Road.
Mizan said police had collected and analysed CCTV footage following the incident and were examining additional footage to identify those involved.
