Three of a family killed in road accident in Ctg's Lohagara
Three members of a same family were killed in a tragic road accident involving a motorcycle, an auto-rickshaw, and a truck on the Chattogram-Cox's Bazar Highway in Chattogram's Lohagara upazila this evening (25 July).
The deceased were identified as Md Humayun, 37, and Md Mamun, 32 — two brothers from Bahadirpara in Satkania — and their maternal uncle Monir Hossain, 45, of Akbarpara in Karaiyangar.
The accident occurred around 6:00pm in the Chipbari area under Padua union of Lohagara.
Confirming the incident, Dohazari Highway Police Officer-in-Charge Mahabub said, "Police visited the scene and sent the bodies to the upazila health complex. Legal action will be taken if the family file a complaint."
According to police and eyewitnesses, the three victims were traveling towards Chattogram on a motorcycle when a CNG-run auto-rickshaw coming from the opposite direction struck them. All three fell onto the road and were immediately run over by a Cox's Bazar-bound truck carrying buffalo. All three died on the spot.
The incident led to severe traffic congestion on both sides of the highway.
Azadul Islam, station officer of Lohagara Fire Service, said, "We rushed to the scene upon receiving the news, recovered the bodies, and helped restore normal traffic flow on the highway."
