BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has sought prayers from the nation for the departed soul of his mother, former prime minister and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, during her namaz-e-janaza at the National Parliament grounds in Dhaka.
Addressing mourners at the funeral prayer held this afternoon (31 December), Tarique urged people to pray so that his mother is granted eternal peace in heaven.
He also sought forgiveness on her behalf for any unintentional mistakes she may have made during her long political life.

Thousands of mourners, including ordinary citizens, political leaders, diplomats and foreign dignitaries, and civilian and military officials, attended the janaza to pay their final respects to the three-time former prime minister.
Khaleda Zia passed away around 6am yesterday (30 December) at the age of 79. Following the funeral prayer, she will be laid to rest beside the grave of her husband, late president and BNP founder Ziaur Rahman.
