Taposh resigns from Parliament

Confirming the matter, Speaker's personal assistant Tarek Shikder said, “The Speaker has accepted Taposh’s resignation letter.”

Taposh resigns from Parliament

The Member of the Parliament Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh has submitted resignation letter to the Parliament Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury today after getting nomination to vie as mayoral candidate in Dhaka South City Corporation election.

Confirming the matter, Speaker's personal assistant Tarek Shikder told Somoy TV, "The Speaker has accepted Taposh's resignation letter."

Born in 1971, Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh, a member of Bangabandhu family, was elected as a member of the Parliament from Dhaka-10 constituency for the third consecutive term in 2018.

Earlier this morning, ruling Awami League picked Atiqul Islam and Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh to run for mayoral elections of Dhaka north and south city corporations respectively.

Party General Secretary Obaidul Quader made the announcement.

The elections to the city corporations will be held on January 30 next year.
