Sudden downpour brings Dhaka respite from sweltering heat

As relentless summer heat gripped the capital, a sudden downpour today (11 September) brought much-needed relief to city dwellers, offering a fleeting moment of calm and comfort amid the chaos of Dhaka life.
The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) forecast that light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind will likely occur at many places across the country over the next 24 hours, beginning at 9:00 am today (11 September).
"Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions," according to a bulletin issued by the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) this morning.
"Besides, few places over the Dhaka and Khulna divisions may also experience similar weather," it also said, adding, "Moderate heavy to heavy falls may occur at places over the country."
Day temperature may fall slightly and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country, the met office predicted.
It further said the monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate over the North Bay.
Yesterday (10 September), the highest temperature recorded was 36.5 degrees Celsius in Chuadanga, while the lowest temperature was 24.5 degrees Celsius in Kutubdia.
In Dhaka, the sun will set at 6:07 pm today and rise at 5:44 am tomorrow.
