He made the remarks while addressing the final match of the late Arafat Rahman Koko Memorial Mini Football Tournament as the chief guest at the playground of Kharua Bongram Government Primary School in Nandail upazila of Mymensingh district this afternoon.
Yasser said the development of sports could help shape the younger generation into physically and mentally healthy, capable and competent citizens.
Sports play an important role in building a nation that is mentally strong and physically fit, he added.
The state minister said sports are not limited to players alone; they also bring together spectators, organizers, local residents and people from different professions.
As a result, such sporting events turn into gatherings that help strengthen social harmony and unity, he added.
Leaders of the upazila and municipal units of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), along with activists of the local Jubo Dal, Chhatra Dal and other affiliated and associate organisations were present at the event.
