Satkhira Police Station Officer-in-Charge Saminul Haque said, "We are trying to arrest the accused. He is on the run right now. The victim is undergoing treatment at Satkhira Sadar Hospital."

According to the victim's family and locals, the first-grader was playing at the yard of a neighbour after returning home from school at noon last Sunday. No one else was in the house at that time. Taking this opportunity, the accused took the child into the house, tied her hands and feet and raped her.

Later, when the child's mother came to the house while searching for her daughter, she found her lying in a room in a critically injured condition and saw Abdullah Sardar running away, they said.

The family filed a case against Abdullah at the Sadar Police Station the next day.
