Police have recovered the body of a Rajshahi University (RU) student from a hostel.

The body was found hanging at a room of the Tuhin hostel in the Meherchandi area adjacent to the university around 7:30pm yesterday (21 February), said the university's proctor Professor Mahbubur Rahman.

The deceased was identified as Md Sifat Sifatullah, student of the university's Fisheries Department for the 2022-23 session. He hailed from Chhonbunia village of Bamna upazila in Barguna district.

Chandrima Police Station Officer-in-Charge Matiar Rahman said the body has been sent to the Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for an autopsy.
