'Colleague run over by vehicle': RMG workers lift Banani blockade after 5 hours
Vehicles can move in and out via Gulshan 2-Gulshan 1 through Amtoli, with diversions at Banani-Kakoli crossing and Amtoli in Mohakhali, say traffic police

RMG workers, who had blocked all roads around Banani Chairman House U-turn earlier this morning (10 March) in protest over a female colleague's death in a road accident, have withdrawn their demonstration after five hours.
RMG workers held a coffin procession and later police requested them to vacate the road.
At around 1:30pm the road was freed, said Zia Rahman Ziko, additional deputy commissioner of Gulshan Traffic zone of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).
The deceased has been identified as Minara Akhter and another person who was injured in the accident was Sumaiya Akhter. She has been admitted in Kurmitola Hospital.
"This morning, a woman died while crossing the road at Chairmanbari intersection. However, it is not known which transport caused the accident," said Zia Rahman Ziko, additional deputy commissioner of Gulshan Traffic zone of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).
He said the RMG workers blocked both incoming and outgoing roads centred around this accident. "Garment workers have also stopped vehicle movement on the elevated expressway," he added.
This has caused severe traffic congestion in the Banani, Mohakhali, and Gulshan areas.

Ziko said vehicles can move in and out via Gulshan 2-Gulshan 1 through Amtoli, with diversions at Banani-Kakoli crossing and Amtoli in Mohakhali.
Around 8:30am, traffic movement in Banani, Mohakhali, and Gulshan was nearly halted. Severe congestion also occurred on the Dhaka Elevated Expressway in Mohakhali and Banani during this time.
However, by 10:30am, the traffic congestion on the expressway began to ease.
Police are continuing their efforts to control the situation at the scene.
Commuters are facing difficulties due to the road blockade.
"I left Banani DOHS at 8:30am to reach work in Eskaton but got stuck in front of the Banani Expressway entry for over 30 minutes. Traffic was at a complete standstill, with no vehicles moving, and the entry to the expressway was closed off," said one commuter.
