Rizvi says Hasina sought to 'eliminate' Khaleda Zia
Rizvi further claimed that some people had alleged that “poison was even mixed with her food” during imprisonment. Despite such suffering, he said, Khaleda Zia never left the country.
BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has alleged that ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina was engaged in conspiracies to "remove BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia from the earth".
"Sheikh Hasina believed Begum Zia was an obstacle in her political path. She sent her to prison, forced her to return in a wheelchair, and made her spend her days in hospitals," Rizvi said at a humanitarian assistance event in Mirsarai, Chattogram, today (29 November).
The programme was organised for the families of those killed and injured in the July Uprising.
Rizvi further claimed that some people had alleged that "poison was even mixed with her food" during imprisonment. Despite such suffering, he said, Khaleda Zia never left the country.
He also reiterated corruption allegations against Hasina, asserting that she used state power for personal and family interests during her tenure.
"Bank looting, money laundering, stockpiling gold, this is how the country was run. She has now fled, but could not take the gold she accumulated," he said.
Rizvi added, "Hasina is not the daughter of any Zamindar [landlord] to possess 832 bhori of gold ornaments. Such wealth came from money siphoned off from various banks."
Seeking prayers for Khaleda Zia, who is undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital, Rizvi said excessive crowds of BNP activists gathering there were hindering medical procedures.
He urged party supporters to pray for her from their own locations instead of creating congestion at the hospital.
