Rinku, accused of attacking 2 girls in Lalmatia over smoking, detained

Rinku, the man accused of harassing and inciting a mob which led to the physical assault of two women in Dhaka's Lalmatia area on 1 March, was detained last night.
Deputy Commissioner of Tejgaon Division Ibne Mizan told The Business Standard, "Rinku has been taken into custody at the Mohammadpur Police Station in connection with the Lalmatia incident. The process of taking legal action against him is underway."
The Tejgaon DC said he has been brought in for questioning.
Earlier today, Cultural Affairs Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki wrote in a Facebook post today (10 March), "The Lalmatia harasser Rinku was arrested last night."
At the time, Although Mohammadpur police could not confirm this information, sources told The Business Standard that Rinku was picked up by the Detective Branch (DB) of police.
No official comment from the DB officials has come as of yet.
The 1 March incident took place in Lalmatia, where two women were attacked for smoking in public. The altercation sparked outrage after a video of the incident went viral on social media, prompting demands for action against the perpetrator.
Authorities have yet to release further details regarding the charges against Rinku or the next steps in the legal process.
