Reforms should not take more than three months, said Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie, joint secretary general of BNP.

"The people want quick elections, and thus, elections should be held in March or April," he said during a mass gathering at the college field of Barishal's Bakerganj this afternoon (18 November).

"The Awami League plundered crores of taka during their time in power. They are now using that money to conspire against the country and the nation," he added.

The BNP joint secretary general said many have been killed or become victims of attacks and lawsuits over the past 15-16 years of the movement.

"Not all involved in these misdeeds [from the past regime] have been arrested yet. The judicial process has also not begun," he said.

Demanding prompt prosecution of the murderers, Annie said failing to bring the killers to justice would wound the society and harm the country.

"We have fought movements and went through struggles for the people. We want to build the country for the people. It is the responsibility of all political parties to ensure that their words and actions align. For this, people should be the highest priority," he added.

Mentioning ongoing conspiracies against the nation, the BNP joint secretary generation said, "Even though [former prime minister] Sheikh Hasina has fled the country, the conspiracies have not ceased.

"Hasina is conspiring against the country and the nation from India. We must remain vigilant against all these conspiracies," he warned.
