Rajshahi University to hold Rucsu election on 15 Sept
Elections for the hall unions and student representatives in the university Senate will also take place on the same day.
The Rajshahi University Central Students' Union (Rucsu) election will be held on 15 September, Chief Election Commissioner Prof Dr Md Amzad Hossain said today (28 July).
Announcing the polls schedule announced at the university's Senate Building, he said elections for the hall unions and student representatives in the university Senate will also take place on the same day.
Voting will be held in each residential hall from 9am to 4pm, and results will be announced later that day after the counting is completed, Prof Amzad said.
According to the schedule by the Rucsu Election Commission, the electoral code of conduct will be published on 31 July, and the draft voter list will be published on 6 August.
Objections and disposal regarding the voter list will be accepted and resolved on 7 August and between 10 and 12 August. Then the final voter list will be published on 14 August.
Nomination papers will be distributed from 17-19 August. Nomination submissions will be accepted on 21, 24, and 25 August from 9am to 5pm.
Scrutiny of nominations will take place on 27-28 August. The preliminary list of candidates will be released on 31 August.
Withdrawal of nominations is scheduled for 2 September and the final candidate list will be published on 4 September.
This marks a significant step in reactivating student union activities at Rajshahi University after a prolonged hiatus.
Rucsu elections, first held in 1957, have been suspended since 1990 — over 35 years ago.
