Rain likely to continue across country
Heavy to very heavy rainfall may occur at places over Rangpur Division.
Rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind are likely to continue across the country over the next five days, with heavy to very heavy rainfall expected at places, according to the latest weather bulletin issued by the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).
The BMD said light to moderately heavy rain or thundershowers with temporary gusty wind are likely to occur at most places over Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and at many places over Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna and Barishal divisions during the next 24 hours beginning at 9am today (18 July).
Heavy to very heavy rainfall may occur at places over Rangpur Division, it added.
The weather office said the well-marked low over North Odisha and adjoining Jharkhand and Gangetic West Bengal has weakened into a low-pressure area over Bihar and adjoining areas and is likely to weaken gradually and merge with the monsoon axis.
The monsoon remains active over the northern part of Bangladesh and fairly active elsewhere in the country, while it is moderate to strong over the North Bay.
The forecast said rainfall activity is expected to continue over the next five days. Light to moderate rain or thundershowers with temporary gusty wind are likely at most places across all divisions from 20 July to 22 July, with moderately heavy to very heavy rainfall at places over the country.
Day and night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged today and tomorrow. From 20 July, day and night temperatures may fall slightly before remaining nearly unchanged again on the fifth day.
