Rail link with Sylhet restored after 23 hours

Sylhet's rail communication with Dhaka and Chattogram has been restored today after a 23-hour disruption due to derailment.
The train service of the two major routes remained snapped following derailment of seven compartments of an oil-laden train at Moulvibazar's Srimangal since Saturday 12 noon. A huge amount of fuel oil also spilled from the wagon after the incident.
However, the derailed compartments were cleared away from the track around 11am today, said Dulal Chandra Das, senior sub-assistant engineer of Bangladesh Railway.
He said that though train communication has been normalised and the reparation work on the line would continue for another week.
Meanwhile, passengers of the route suffered immensely following the derailment as the scheduled train services were cancelled during the period.
Besides, a five-member probe committee was formed on Saturday night to look into the incident.
