Purchase committee approves 4 proposals
The proposals, approved at the 23rd CCGP meeting of this year, would involve a cost of around Tk334.41 crore
The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP) on Wednesday approved four proposals, including one for procuring 25,000 tonnes of bagged granular urea fertiliser with a cost of around Tk61.22 crore.
The approval came at the 23rd CCGP meeting of this year, held virtually with Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal in the chair.
Briefing reporters after the meeting, the finance minister said Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC) – under the Ministry of Industries – will procure the bagged granular urea fertiliser from a company named Muntajat in Qatar.

He added that the four approved procurement proposals would involve a cost of around Tk334.41 crore, of which Tk229.23 crore will come from the state coffers, while the remaining Tk105.17 crore will be provided by the World Bank and other local banks.
Mustafa Kamal revealed that the CCGP meeting approved a proposal for awarding the consultant work of Dhaka City Neighbourhood Upgrading Project (DCNUP) to five joint-venture consultants. The project will cost Tk43.96 crore.
The consultants are Dohwa Engineering Co Ltd, Junglim Architecture Co Ltd Korea, Dev Consultants Ltd, Bangladesh, Design Planning & Management Consultants Ltd and Tanya Karim NR Khan and Associates.
The meeting also approved a proposal for awarding the work of "Package WD-03" to the lowest, bidder Jahirul Ltd, under the project to upgrade the Jhenaidah-Kushtia-Pakshi-Dashuria National Highway.
Of this highway, the Kushtia town portion will be developed into four lanes and the rest will be developed accordingly with a cost of around Tk141.26 crore.
Besides, the CCGP approved another proposal from the DAP Fertilizer Company Limited under the Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC) to procure 30,000 tonnes of phosphoric acid with a cost of around Tk87.97 crore.
The finance minister also said the meeting did not approve a proposal for the work under the Shariatpur (Manohar Bazar)-Ibrahimpur Ferryghat road development project, since only a single bidder had responded.
He said the tender would be floated afresh in this regard to get a competitive price.
